Sit Around Saturday: Making Our Life Matter

First, I would like to apologize for my absence the past few days. I have not been doing much on my blog due to a friend losing their child. Although it wasn’t family that I lost…it has hit me pretty hard. I just keep looking at my girls and I can honestly say I don’t think I ever want to let go of them now. (Not that I did before…but I may be in psycho mode now.)  I appreciate you guys being so understanding..I have had Jen’s Sit Around questions for a while now and just haven’t been able to write my “fun” parts. I hope this isn’t lacking and that you guys enjoy it 🙂

Alright…you guys know the drill! Not so fun stuff first…then for the awesomeness that is my questions!
Describe your blog in 15 words or less!

Trying to get through the day without screwing up the family too much.

Hehe…I think we all have this fear! I know I sure do!

When did you start blogging? How did you come up with your blogs name?

I started blogging in 2007, and have had several blogs on different platforms.  This January will be the second year that I have self-hosted.  Making Our Life Matter came about during a late night, insomnia filled haze. I wanted something to reflect the importance of family, and what matters to us.

That is pretty awesome! You are definitely a veteran blogger! I may need to come to your for some great tips!

What is something about yourself that most of your readers don’t know?

I am painfully short, like 4′ 10″ short.

FINALLY!! Someone shorter than me!! I’m only 5′ 0

How do you spend your time when you aren’t blogging?

Being a baseball Mom, reading, spending time with my family.  I also work PT at a local bookstore. I am also a owner/co-administer for a ladies message board: http://makingourlifematter.com/fenceboard/

What do you find most challenging about blogging?

Balancing blogging and real life.  Some days my house looks horrid because I am too busy blogging.

Thankfully you are far from alone here! I know there have been several times that I get caught up in something on my blog and don’t realize that I haven’t cleaned or fed the kids…or something else major that I’m pretty sure makes me a bad mom 🙁

What do you find most rewarding about blogging?

Sharing my life with others, and letting them know that ordinary is completely okay. And that you don’t have to be perfect to have a good life.

Wow! That is an awesome way to look at things! My motto has always been “normal is overrated” simply because anyone that knows me know that I am random and far, far, epically light years away from being normal.

What post are you most proud of so far? Link it please 🙂

Ask me one question…any question at all and I have to answer it no matter what!

Do you like your tacos with a soft shell or a hard shell?

Hehe…finally one I can easily answer with out some huge long rant! I am totally 100% a soft shell person!  Well..unless I want a taco salad..then you kind of have to have a hard shell…a soft shell in a taco salad would be kind of weird wouldn’t it?

I’m not sure why I have always loved soft shells, I just love them. I’m a weirdo that will even walk around and just eat the tortilla shell!

Emalee is weird! She won’t eat tacos!! What kid doesn’t eat tacos?!? I mean really…I thought tacos and spaghetti were like the staple in a kids diet! My kid is just weird!!

Okay…soo umm…I sort of ranted anyways didn’t I?

If you could have any one toy what would it be? Why?

A big wheel.  The old fashioned kind with the brake that would spin you around. I had such fun as a kid with my friends riding up and down the sidewalk.  Life was very simple then.

If you could have one super power what would it be? Why?

I don’t know if it is a super power, but I would sure like Molly Weasley’s household spells.  That way I would have more time to blog!

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Chobani yogurt, eggs, sour cream, 2 gallons of milk, a half gallon of iced coffee, and applesauce.  We just got back from vacation, so I haven’t had time to restock yet.

Look at the bottom of this post for the recipe!! YUMMZ!!

If your blog was a dessert, what would it be and why?

Hmm, good question.  I would have to say chocolate cake.  Everyone loves it, right?

What do you think about when you are alone in your car?

DSC05730

How I wish I was home with my family.

AWE! You are the first to say that! Most of us dream about how we could get away! hehe

As a kid, I loved The Black Stallion.  Now? I would have to say The Harry Potter series.

If you had to eat only one type of vegetable forever, what would it be?

Corn

This may be weird…BUT I LOVE CORN! Like holy crap! Corn is awesome!! All kinds of corn! It’s just great! Good choice too because technically popcorn is corn so you can eat that!! hehe

What song best describes you? Why?

You Call Me B*^#@ Like It’s A Bad Thing by Halestorm.  I am usually a very easy going person, but when someone does something to hurt me or my family, I can be the biggest B-word out there.  When it comes to my family, don’t mess with it!

If you were a star wars/star trek (you pick) character who would you be and why?

Princess Leia.  She was beautiful, wore a bikini well, and could take care of herself just fine.

If you were a cartoon character who would you be and why?

Sorry, no silly selfie today. Today I needed to share a picture of my girls.

Phineas from Phineas & Ferb.  He just has so many great ideas, and he can make them happen.  He is also outgoing, and is friends with everybody.

YAY!! Hehe my ringer on my phone right now is really and truly a Phineas & Ferb song! It’s the Agent P one where he is riding the ride to get a mission hehe

Take a moment and write a short rant & ramble post for us. It can be any topic that you would like…just keep it legal please!

Telemarketers. Seriously, even though we are on the Do Not Call list, they still find a way.  And they keep calling….and calling…and calling, until I ask to speak to their manager.  It’s amazing how fast they take no for an answer when you say that.  I also hate places like the cable company who try to sell you more services when you are on the phone with them, trying to fix one of their screw-ups.  If I wanted to upgrade my package, don’t you think I would have called the “add services” number instead of technical support?

Okay, enough ranting 🙂

Crock-Pot Death By Chocolate Cake

Okay, this is seriously one that I have made a dozen times! Everyone loves it and it smells and tastes amazing!!

1 Devils Food Chocolate Cake mix

(All the stuff the box says you need for the cake)

1 large packet of chocolate pudding mix

1 packet of vanilla pudding

White & Dark chocolate chips

1 bag of small marshmallows

1. Grease you r crock-pot.

2. In your large crock-pot,mix together the cake mix and all of it’s ingredients.

3. Once it is blended well, add in both packets of pudding.

4. Now add in as many or as little chocolate chips as you would like.

5. Set crock-pot to low and let it cook for about 2 to 3 hours. Yes I know that is an insane amount of time to wait as you house (or classroom, this is perfect for teachers) begins to smell super mouth watering! But it is totally worth it!

6. You want to cook it until the cake is pretty well set and the pudding is almost bubbling out of the cake. You still want it to be a bit gooey. At this point you need to sprinkle the marshmallows all over the top of the cake.

7. Put the lid back on and allow it to sit for about 5 to 10 minutes or until the marshmallows are melted.

8. Serve with vanilla ice-cream so that you don’t die from chocolate overdose!

Have you been to Jen’s blog yet? What do you do to makes sure that you are Making Your Life Matter?

What do you think of my awesome cake? By the way…that is 100% all my recipe that I made on my own!! Hehe…just random stuff I threw together one day and people enjoyed!
