Sit Around Saturdays: Growing Up Madison

It’s here!

The arrival of the very first edition of Sit Around Saturdays!!

I am super excited to announce that today we will be Sitting Around with Madison’s Mommy from

Growing Up Madison

Okay, so before I can get into what I like to call the “good” stuff with Madison’s Mommy, we need to cover the basics for those readers that have yet to check out her blog.

Seriously, if you haven’t checked it out yet…what on Earth are you waiting for?!?  Well…okay…finish reading this first…THEN TAKE YOUR MOUSE AND CLICK ON THAT ADORABLE CHILD UP THERE AND START READING!

Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Alright Madison’s Mommy are you ready for this?!? Because I sure am! I’m so excited I think I’m vibrating! Oh no wait…that’s my phone! Oops!

Describe your blog in 15 words or less:

Told by a toddler who is a handful and thinks she is the world!

When did you start blogging? How did you come up with your name?

We started blogging in March of 2013. We were doing it to keep friends and family up to date with what was going on in Madison’s life, so we decided to name it Growing Up With Madison which was actually the name of the first blog, but I couldn’t figure out how to transfer the domain name. So we kept it short and sweet and named it Growing Up Madison.

What is something about yourself that most of your readers don’t know?

I think by now most of my readers know pretty much everything about me. However, I guess I might say that they don’t know that I am only 3 years away from being 40!

Looking pretty AWESOME if I do say so myself 🙂
*I may or may not have edited this photo…I shall leave that for you to decide!

How do you spend your time when you aren’t blogging? Because you know we all totally have lives outside of mommyhood and the blogosphere!

When I’m not blogging, I’m usually at work, I work for the US Army. If I’m not blogging and I’m not at work I’m probably reading my Kindle. I’m a big fan of books and I’m trying to instill the love of reading in to Madison as well, and so far it’s been working!

Oh my gosh! No wonder we get along so dang well! I am obsessed with reading! My hubby totally says I should have become a librarian or something because I can tell you pretty much anything you want to know about any of the books I have read in the past few years! Hehe, Madison’s Mommy and I have a ton of stuff in common..you guys have no idea! It’s starting to get kind of creepy! 🙂

What do you find most challenging about blogging?

Coming up with what to write about on an, almost, daily basis and trying to say it in the way that a toddler might.

What do you find most rewarding about blogging?

I love being able to sit down and write without restriction, getting my words in print and having the world read it! When people comment it says, “Hey, we found that very interesting!”, it always brings a smile to my face.

I like to call this comment cake!  I love cake and with my dang diet going on comment cake is the only kind of cake I get! So COMMENT, COMMENT, COMMENT!! Give me my sugar fix! Mwahahahaha (evil laugh?)

What post are you most proud of so far?

My Happy Father’s Day post. It was really tough writing that. I just recently lost my dad, so this was my first Father’s Day without him and I still miss him. Even posting that picture of us together brought tears to my eyes and I had a difficult time pressing that publish button.

Pick two of your favorite blogs that you read and would like to be invited to do Sit Around Saturday!

Oh wow! There are so many that I read on an almost daily basis! But I’d have to go with A Few Days in the Life of Courtsie Ann B and Foodie in WV

NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF!
OH MY GOSH! I HAVE A TIARA!! Yay me!
Or shall I say…embarrassing stuff?
Hehe…you guys know me too well to expect me to do a “serious” interview!
Come on…what else did you expect?

Ask me 1 question…any question at all and I HAVE to answer it! No matter what it is or how embarrassing it is!

I’M TOTALLY GOING TO REGRET THIS ONE!

If you could do one crazy thing what would it be?

Hmm…just one?!? Are you sure? I’m almost positive I do crazy stuff like almost every day! But that’s beside the point…let’s see….one crazy thing I would do. Am I going to get caught? Is there still the possibility of going to jail? Or is this one of those super awesome questions where I can do ANYTHING?!? Hehe I’m going with option number 3!

If I could do one crazy thing AND NOT GO TO JAIL FOR IT (or lose my kids) I would:
Kill a man with my no wait that is totally not it! If I could do ANYTHING in the world, it would be to open my own strip club. No, no…seriously…listen for a second! This is genius!

I want to buy a building with three large sections that are separated by sound proof walls. On one side will be a male strip club, on the other a female strip club. Here comes my genius showing:
in the middle will be a daycare! hehe EVERYONE IS HAPPY!!

If you could have one toy (any toy in the whole world past or present) what would it be?

A slinky!! They’re so much fun! I mean really there is just a ton of fun to be had in watching them go down stairs! Yeah, I’m weird. Don’t you judge her!

If your blog was a dessert, what would it be and why?
Strawberry Cheesecake! I love anything strawberry cheesecake flavored!

Check out the end of this post for this awesome-ish recipe!

Okay so I know what you guys are thinking…Becca what would your site be..well:

A banana split of course! Because it’s just a little bit nutty!

If you could get rid of one state in the US what would it be and why?
This one is tough, but I’d say Oklahoma. Don’t ask why!
What do you think about when you are alone in your car?
How can I run away without my family finding me?!? Seriously, I do sometimes! lol
Me too girl!! Me too!

What song best describes you? Why?

Born to be wild! I was a tomboy growing up and I still go through that phase at times. I like climbing trees even though i may not always know how to come down.
Totally serious, my cat got stuck in a tree a few weeks ago! Weirdest cat ever!

Name 3 things within a two foot radius of yourself right now!
Madison, my Kindle, and my iPad
Last but not least:
If you were a cartoon character who would you be and why?
The Brain from Pinky and the Brain! I’d so love to take over the world!
I totally love this answer!

Now for an unexpected treat! A recipe for Strawberry Cheesecake!
No I’m not just going to say buy a cheesecake and strawberries! I’m not that lazy! I have a recipe…somewhere!
WARNING: I’m an awful cook…but hey this is one I’ve done in the past for Christmas parties!
I promise…there were no fatalities!

1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs (can use as little as 4 tbsp. I like my graham cracker)
8 ounces of cream cheese
1 cup of white sugar
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tbsp. water
4 cups of FRESH strawberries
  1. Pre-heat oven to 325
  2. Put the graham cracker crumbs into a greased pan.
  3. Mix the cream cheese and sugar together, make sure it’s well blended.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time I MUST STRESS SOMETHING HERE….NO SHELLS IN THE MIX!
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and toss it pour it into the pan.
  6. Bake for about 50 minutes Be sure the oven is on…and the cake is in it!
  7. Let it cool off before you remove it from the pan…seems like a duh but hey you never know!
  8. Arrange 2 cups of sliced strawberries on top of the cake! Now gracefully toss it in the trash!
  9. MOST IMPORTANT STEP: Now that your house smells and looks like you cooked a cheesecake…pull out the one you bought from a professional…add some strawberry syrup and the last 2 cups of cut up strawberries on top and VOILA a beautiful, edible, home-made-ish cheesecake! hehe Shhh don’t tell my secret!
I hope you enjoyed this weeks addition of Sit Around Saturdays!
