A Quick Bite
Book Length- 384 pages
Main Characters- Lissianna Argeneau and Greg Hewitt

synopsis

“That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau’s bed? He’s not dessert—he’s the main course!

Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there’s another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sign of blood… an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Her mother thinks she has the perfect solution, and serves up the therapist on a silver platter (or at least a wrought iron bed). Of course it doesn’t hurt that this psychologist has a delicious looking neck.

What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that? Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger’s bedroom pretty quickly—once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor find true love with a hemophobic vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal?

That’s a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into… if he can just get Lissianna to bite.”

review

Sadly in this one the cons way out weight he pros…but let me explain myself:

The story line is unique and makes me want to read more. I mean seriously, who would have thought to have a vampire afraid of blood…and the anemia thing is pretty interesting as well. The opening to the book is solid and grabs your attention…I just wish it kept up steam!

Lissianna is a vampire who faints at the sight or smell of blood! Can you imagine living a life like that?!? Well, Lissi (nickname) has a lot of troubles ahead of her due to her little problem so her mom decides that for her birthday she is going to get her an extra special present! This present comes in the form of Gregory Hewitt a psychologist who specializes in phobias. Mom’s plan takes an interesting turn when Lissi and Greg take things down a romantic road instead of a professional one. It doesn’t help that no one in the family seems to be able to control his mind like they should be able to.

There are quite a few errors and some of the writing isn’t exactly what I would call great. There is a ton of foreshadowing which can be both good and bad, just depends on the reader I suppose.

The main characters in this story are a bit of a bore at times and honestly come across as over all idiots! There are a ton of “background characters” that play random parts and you have no idea if they are truly important to remember or not. For instance, when Greg is tied to Lissi’s bed and each and every one of her cousins (like 8 of them) go into the room to beg him to not be mad and cure her phobia…dude is tied to a bed and no one explains what her phobia even is! All sorts of hints are dropped in front of Greg…and yet he still can’t figure out that these guys are vampires? Umm…can you say slow?!?

I know that this is the first book in the series so I tried not to judge it too strongly. I had heard before picking it up that the first one was the worst…but that it got much much better as the series goes on. (I have read more of the series now and I can honestly say that this is true! This series rocks…and compared to the other books this one is just lame and boring…but gives some background info on characters.)

Over all, not the best book in the world, but overall a good read. I know that the series gets better and between that and the unique quality of the vampire aspect of the story I will definitely keep reading.
