What is Mommy Writes?
Okay, so some of you totally awesome people know that I am working on my very first book! It’s title is going to be FaeTAL, I am super excited about it and cannot wait for things to come together.
A friend of mine told me that it would be a good idea to blog my way through my book!
Well, so far a lot of random things have come up and I just broke the 10,000 word count! I’ve done a ton of research on the Irish and the Fae and how the two may mix. I really want the book to come across as authentic and fun to read. I am even using some “real” Irish words (according the Google and Wikipedia lol) in my book! Yay me!
So…what is my book about you may ask? Well, clearly it has something to do with Irish Fae right? Honestly, I am a total passenger to this story, I have very little control over where it goes…this may not make sense to some of you but it is a thing I promise! My book started as a dream and I still get snippets of what will happen through dreams (Hubby says this makes me creepy…my bad!) and that is where I take the story. I am filling in blanks and “dull” spots with my own ideas…but the over all story isn’t mine to write! I’m just putting down this amazing recurring dream down on paper! I will say that I am doing it as a dual POV, I know that I prefer to read books that I hear from both sides, so I figured I would write one that did the same! Wait…I still haven’t told you what my book is about! Crap!
So, I haven’t exactly thought of a “blurb” for FaeTAL yet so let’s see how this goes.
Abi is a 25 year old carnival “worker” that wants nothing more than to escape from the life she is being forced to lead and help to save the others. She isn’t looking for love or even lust for that matter, she is simply looking to get her life back!
Chris is the leader of the Fae, whether he likes it or not. When he runs into Abi while out on patrol his natural instinct is to protect her from any and all harm, even though women haven’t been on his radar for more than 100 years. He simply wants to be free from his burden and this promise to lead his people.
When the two come together in an unexpected and explosive night both of their lives will change forever…but will either get the freedom they are searching for?
What do you think? Is that a good blurb? Would you read it?!?
Anyways…what am I doing on my book right now? I am spending an unbelievable amount of time on websites like these two: Danu and Gaelic/Celtic Deities among others! Soon I will be using the Irish Brogue page to try and make the dialect more accurate!
I dreamed of the name of my book (told you I was a total passenger in my book!)…I had a dream about the male warriors in the story and they were calling themselves the FaeTAL. When I woke up I jotted it down and decided to look into some meanings…you will never guess what I found!
Fae, of course alludes to the Fairy lineage…that one is a DUH!
TAL is where it gets interesting! It is the initials for Tiocfaidh ár lá , which means ‘ our day will come ‘ .
I spent the last two days editing and expanding the first 2 chapters…yes I’m only 2 chapters in 🙁
Well, there you have it! My first post about my writing! What do you think? Will you come back and read more?!?
